About Highfield Leadership Academy

Highfield Leadership Academyis a state-of-the-art secondary school for 11 to 16 year olds in Blackpool. We joined Star Academies in 2016 and, like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.

Who were looking for

We are looking to appoint a part time School Staff Instructor (SSI) working two days per week during term time to support the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) output at the school and provide liaison between the Contingent and Regional Army Headquarters. This role will include Wednesday afternoons for cadet force training. You will need to be prepared to work flexible hours when on weekends and camps away from home.

The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills. You will have the ability to problem solve and provide excellent customer service to our community.


You will have:

  • Skills at Arms Range Management Qualification, Stages 1-3.
  • Management/leadership experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with Cadet Forces.
  • Experience of working with young people in an approachable, friendly, and sympathetic manner and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and know when to listen, when to challenge and when to signpost is required.
  • The ability to establish good working relationships.
  • The ability to motivate cadets and staff.

This position would be suitable for an ex-regular or reservist SNCO/officer or someone who has extensive experience of the cadet forces, but this is not essential as training will be given.
