Job description

Contract Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), Fixed-term until 31/12/2024 At Cardiff University International Study Centre (ISC), Subject Leads provide the academic coordination to deliver excellent student outcomes; quality assurance and enhancement that is commended by the QAA; and curriculum innovation which embeds strong collaborative working with both the University and the network.   You will be responsible for coordinating and supporting our academic team. Reporting to the Head of STEM, you will work closely with colleagues within and outside of the Centre and be accountable for the delivery of contractually required progression rates to the University. You will be responsible for the coordination of science provision within the centre.  The post-holder will also take responsibility for Foundation, IY1 or PMP matters within the Life Sciences and Physical Sciences programme areas.  The successful candidate will have recent successful academic coordination experience in a relevant subject discipline and have a proven ability to engage with an HEI in collaborative developments.  ABOUT THE ROLE Leadership: Communicate the vision for continuous improvement and achieving targets. Articulate the vision for academic partnership and program development. Contribute to planning and development across various areas, attending relevant university boards and committees. Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, proposing appropriate actions. Academic Management: Efficiently manage academic staff resources and ensure compliant recruitment. Monitor academic team performance, provide feedback, and participate in regular meetings. Represent the Centre at events and meetings, internally and externally. Quality Assurance and Enhancement: Ensure academic standards and quality are maintained per policies. Contribute to compliance with quality frameworks, policies, and codes of practice. Operationally: Collaborate with the Head of Student Experience to deliver effective timetables and assessments. Teach up to 20 hours, contribute to curriculum delivery, and oversee the virtual learning environment. Manage day-to-day issues, ensure compliance with UKVI regulations, and deputise for senior leaders. ABOUT YOU   A Bachelor's degree and post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject (Essential). Experience in HR duties, such as delivering training and taking part in the recruitment process. Ability to delegate activities set deadlines and take responsibility for overseeing their successful completion to meet challenging deadlines (Essential). Experience in successfully leading on internal communication, which includes disseminating complex messages or changes to operations.   Experience of working with international students and an understanding of welfare, well-being and cultural issues which may arise.  Experience working across, up and down an organisation as well as with external partners and both national and international stakeholders (Essential).  ORGANISATIONAL COMPLIANCE   Study Group is proud of its high standards in safeguarding and recognises its importance in enabling the best possible student experience and outcomes.
