About Us
AIM North London is an 11-19 mixed, multi-cultural comprehensive school in Enfield. We have just over 600 students, with over 50 languages spoken throughout the Academy and a significant proportion of students eligible for the pupil premium. AIM North London has been a part of the AIM Trust since 2019 and the school has been on an incredible journey over the last four years. We are delighted that our first two sets of published GCSE outcomes in the Summer of 2022 and 2023 make us the most improved school in North London. Our recent OFSTED report (December 2023) judged the school to be ‘Good’ in all categories for the first time in the school’s history. Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes towards their school, each other and staff was highly praised: “pupils feel happy and safe here, demonstrating a sense of pride towards their school” and “pupils show respect to staff and to each other”. Our “clear and consistent routines” which “ensure pupils behave well and focus on their learning within a calm and purposeful environment” were commended. Teachers were also recognised for their “expert knowledge of the subjects they teach” which they “use to design pupils’ learning” and “high expectations of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)”. School leaders were praised by the inspection team for “considering the workload and well-being of staff when making decisions” and implementing a “coaching model” so teachers can “learn from each other’s practice” Inspectors said school leaders had “identified the key knowledge they want pupils to know and remember and “thought carefully about the order they teach subject content”.
We are delighted with the progress that we have made over the last four and a half years, and are looking forward to building on our success in order to become a truly transformational school for our community. We are excited for you to join us on our journey.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a well-qualified, committed and enthusiastic Science Teacher. You would be responsible for developing a knowledge-rich curriculum, improving the quality of teaching and learning, and monitoring students’ progress. This post is pivotal to the Academy’s continuing drive to raise attainment for all our children.
The Science Teacher will need to be a dedicated individual, happy to contribute not to just the students learning but the schools’ environment as a whole. With experience in your subject specialist area, an excellent teaching background and strong leadership skills, you are ready to take on a role that will have a significant impact on learning. For the right candidate, this role can also include a leadership responsibility for an area of curriculum within the department. This role is open to ECTs as well as qualified teachers.
Our mission is to develop the leadership potential in our staff and students. We want to be at the forefront of developing the next generation of national school leaders. We can help prepare you for a future senior leadership position, investing in your development through regular coaching and a wide range of professional development opportunities.
The Department
The Science department is going from a strength-to-strength within the school. It is comprised of a range of teachers who work collaboratively, from experienced Senior Leaders to trainees, supported by a dedicated lab technician. We offer AQA Combined Science and the full suite of Alevel subjects. The co-planning and coaching within the department is excellent, and a teacher joining the department will teach from a fully developed, sequenced curriculum with al resources planned and shared centrally. We are looking to build on our GCSE outcomes this summer and to further develop the A level offer; in recent years our students have gone on to study sciences at university, including Physics at Oxford University, Chemical Engineering and Biomedical sciences.
Why work at AIM North London?
• The opportunity to work with experienced and value-driven colleagues that have a proven track record of raising attainment for a disadvantaged community
• A wide range of professional development opportunities, for example, we were one of the first partner schools working with The Institute for Teaching on the Masters in Expert Teaching
• Experience of working with Ambition School Leadership and supporting colleagues completing Teaching Leaders and Future Leaders
• A commitment to engage with the latest educational research that informs all aspects of the Academy, for example, curriculum design and pedagogy
• A focus on reducing workload by having centralised behaviour systems, centralised curriculum and a reasonable feedback policy.
