The Role

We are currently recruiting a Scientific Officer, to join us permanently in Bristol.

In your role as Scientific Officer, you will have the unique opportunity to work at the forefront of tobacco science, leveraging your expertise to drive advancements in product safety, regulatory compliance and consumer satisfaction. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers and regulatory experts to conduct rigorous studies, analyze data and generate insights that shape the future of our product portfolio.


Principle Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the creation of scientific literature reviews and reviews of regulatory & governmental reports relevant to Imperial Brands’ scientific, regulatory and commercial strategies.
  • Monitor, review, critique and report on literature developments in designated scientific topics and provide overviews and early alerts to senior leaders, and the wider Group Science & Regulatory Affairs (GSRA) function.
  • Input into the development, editing and writing of articles for peer-review publications regarding key product and study results.
  • Participate in regular update meetings and discussions regarding research projects and scientific developments with external experts.
  • Attend appropriate courses/conferences to maintain relevant knowledge in designated topics to be at the forefront of scientific knowledge in this area.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Suitable experience (academic/professional) in an aspect of science related to tobacco & nicotine or health sciences e.g. toxicology, pharmacology, biological sciences or medical biochemistry
  • Experience of performing medical and scientific literature searches, and experience producing high quality scientific documents
  • Strong organisational/prioritisation skills for the management of multiple concurrent projects and interdepartmental needs
  • Great communication ability at all levels within and outside the business, including presentation, written, and oral skills
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Experience in clinical or behavioural research, neurobiology, human biology, pharmacology, or medicine.
