The Screening department is the first stage in the NMC’s fitness to practise process. You will be joining our Decision-Making team, where you will be considering the concerns raised about our registrants and deciding whether regulatory action is required or if further information is needed before a decision can be made. This is a key role in helping us to ensure the public is well protected.
About the Role
We are seeking multiple Screening Decision Makers on a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months. This is a vital role, with significant individual responsibility for ensuring we make high quality Screening decisions at the earliest opportunity.The successful candidates will be responsible for making high volumes of important decisions in line with our screening guidance and fitness to practise aims and principles.
You will decide whether a referral requires no further action or, based on the information gathered, whether the registrant’s case should be referred to the Case Examiners and investigated further. You will have a significant role to play in advising colleagues on the necessary enquiries that are required to make an informed and evidence-based assessment.
About You
We are looking for individuals with:
Proven ability to work autonomously in a casework environment
Proven experience of analysing large volumes of written evidence and understanding evidential issues
An effective communicator who can draft decisions that all our customers can understand
Experience in making challenging, evidence-based, and fair decisions independently
