Location: Ramsgate

Type: Temporary - March til September

Hourly Rate: £10.42, increasing to £11.44

Hours: 4 days On/4 off - 12 hour shift

We are currently looking for a Seasonal Dock Master to work at the Port of Ramsgate. This position starts end of March and will be until September. You will work 4 days On/4 days off on a rota basis, including Bank and Public Holidays.
Responsibilities: -

- To allocate suitable berths to visiting vessels and to assist with mooring.
- To collect harbour dues as set out in accordance with the published fees and charges.
- To undertake general marina and harbour maintenance.
- To operate the fuel barge and to fully comply with the operating and emergency procedures and to ensure the highest level of safety is maintained at all times.
- To ensure a high standard of customer care is adopted at all times by the post holder and any contractors working in his/hers area whilst he/she is on duty.
- To maintain records and accounts for vessel berthing and fuel sales.
- To ensure that any incidents or accidents are recorded and reported as early as possible to the post holders line manager.
- To undertake regular jet washing of the pontoon walkways and fingers.
- To be fully aware of and comply with the environmental management systems. To identify potential risks to the environment and to seek out areas where environmental impact can be reduced.
- To assist both port and harbour colleagues as necessary.
- To attend relevant training.
- To undertake other duties that may be required from time to time that may be reasonably requested by the duty Dockmaster.
Desirable but not essential:-
- RYA Powerboat level 2.
- First aid certification.
- Basic Sea Survival.
- VHF Radio Telephony certification.
- RYA Yacht Master/Day Skipper.
- Oil Spill Operator course.
- Fire Awareness course.
- Driving Licence.
