Job description

Job Title: Seating Assembler
Location: Nottingham (NG16 postcode)
Salary: £11.44 per hour plus overtime (when available)
Shifts of work: Monday to Wednesday 07.15am until 16.15pm
Thursday 07.15am until 15.45pm
Friday 07.15am until 11.15am
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Job Overview:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the process of stripping old seats, fitting and trimming covers onto new seats, ensuring quality craftsmanship in every step. Additionally, the role involves packing finished products and maintaining a clean and organized workspace through general housekeeping tasks.
Stripping Old Seats:
* Carefully remove old upholstery from seats using appropriate tools and techniques.
* Inspect the underlying structure for any damages or defects and report findings.
* Dispose of old materials in the correct manner.
Trimming Covers onto New Seats:
* Fit covers onto seats with precision, ensuring a snug and tailored appearance.
* Pay close attention to patterns, alignments, and details to maintain a high standard of quality.
Packing:
* Package finished seats securely for shipping or delivery, following established guidelines.
* Ensure that all packed items meet quality standards and are free from defects.
General Housekeeping:
* Maintain a clean and organized workspace to enhance efficiency and safety.
* Regularly clean tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
* Dispose of waste and unused materials appropriately.
* Assist in keeping the overall workshop or manufacturing area clean and well-maintained.
Mechanical Assembly of Seating:
* Learn how to complete mechanical assembly of rail seating units according to provided specifications and engineering drawings.
* Inspect assembled seating units for quality and compliance with safety standards.
* Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or discrepancies during the assembly process.
Ad Hoc Van Driving:
* Drive company vans for various operational needs, including transportation of assembled seating units, equipment, and materials.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Practical "hands-on" experience within a similar production environment.
* Ability to read assembly drawings
* Ability to read simple diagrams and schedules
* Good manual dexterity
* Competent to interpret production documentation
* Able to be flexible / working as a team to achieve targets
