MFL Second in Charge
  • Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale + TLR 2B
  • Location: North London
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced MFL Second in Charge to join our team. The successful candidate will share leadership responsibilities within the MFL department and provide high-quality support to the Head of Department. This role is integral to the development and success of MFL within the Academy, and we are looking for someone who can contribute significantly to the leadership capacity of our institution.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver high-quality and successful MFL lessons to all age groups.
  • Act as a Form Tutor and/or Personal Advisor.
  • Monitor and ensure pupils’ progression, addressing gaps in attainment.
  • Support and develop MFL projects with local primary schools.
  • Contribute to the leadership and management of the MFL department, including raising attainment and progress in line with Academy targets.
  • Monitor the quality of MFL teaching and learning within the department.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address underachievement.
  • Participate in extended day activities to enhance pupils’ learning experiences.
  • Maintain professional standards of dress, courtesy, and efficiency.
  • Engage in staff training and development to ensure subject knowledge is up-to-date.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Ability to use ICT effectively to raise achievement and as a management tool.
  • Experience delivering MFL to KS3, KS4 & KS5.
  • Leadership experience, including managing staff and pupils.
  • Demonstrable experience of improving student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and creative teaching skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
