SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)


Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (Easter to Summer Term)
Salary: Supply Teacher Scale
Location: Secondary School - outskirts Doncaster


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join our secondary school team on a temporary full-time basis for the upcoming term, starting from Easter and concluding at the end of the summer holidays. This is an essential role in ensuring the continued support and development of our students with special educational needs.

Day to Day of the role:
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy.
Coordinate provision for students with special educational needs.
Liaise with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to inclusive education.
Advise on the graduated approach to providing SEN support.
Work with the senior leadership team to ensure the school meets its responsibilities under the Equality Act (2010) with regard to reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.
Ensure that the school keeps the records of all students with SEN up to date.
Plan and monitor interventions and support for students with SEN.
Provide regular updates on student progress and the effectiveness of SEN provision.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

NASEN desirable
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong understanding of the UK secondary education system.
Previous experience as a SENCO or in a similar role within a secondary school setting.
In-depth knowledge of current SEN legislation, including the SEN Code of Practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of special educational needs.
