The Position

The Sector Trading team is an integral part of the investment process within the broader Equity Trading organization. The Sector Trader performs a specialized execution function on the trading desk as investment decisions are implemented in an efficient manner. This important role also acts as the eyes and ears of the investment team, filtering important market color and observations back to our global investors. With a sound understanding of market structure, the execution process and strong relationships with industry participants, the Sector Trader minimizes trading costs and preserves alpha created by our investors. The open role will be London-based and report to the Head Trader for the EMEA region.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily execution of equity order flow across the EMEA region on behalf of various funds within Fidelity.
  • Foster and maintain effective broker-dealer relationships to ensure best-in-class market intelligence and liquidity from our coverage.
  • Proactive engagement with Portfolio Managers & Research Analysts globally on subject matter expertise and relevant content to positively contribute to the investment process. With competent communication skills, regularly present to global investors on news flow, market trends, and trading desk activities.
  • Partner with internal Fidelity groups that support trading (Technology, Compliance, Legal, Operations) to promote effective risk management practices.
  • Represent Fidelity to the highest level of integrity with a core aim to fulfil our fiduciary responsibilities to our shareholders and investors.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Candidate should hold a minimum of 3 years’ trading desk experience and understanding of the principles of trade execution and investment team engagement.
  • Robust understanding of EMEA equity markets including market structure and regulatory rules across the region.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to effectively engage with global investment professionals.
  • Team-oriented approach, with a focus on working with peers in a collaborative fashion to achieve the best outcome for shareholders.
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and effective prioritization skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of technology and ability to utilize a variety of trading applications and software packages to achieve goals.
  • Knowledge/experience across products (e.g. derivatives, futures, FX) is preferred.
  • Quantitative aptitude and analytical skills which can be applied in the core trading desk role.
  • Ability to think creatively and independently while working in a collaborative environment.
  • Self-starter, capable of developing new tools and capabilities to solve novel problems facing the trading desk.
  • High level of integrity as we represent Fidelity and our shareholders in numerous markets across EMEA.
