SalaryJoin Thornford Park Hospital a service for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder in Thatcham as a Security Assistant where you will be part of creating a safe environment for some of the most vulnerable people in society.
As a Security Assistant you will be responsible for daily security checks and ensuring procedures are maintained around the medium, low and PICU wards, where you will support staff, service users and visitors at all times.
Working alongside an established team, you will promote and educate the service on the importance of security by providing specialist advice and support, which will see you help create a positive culture; set standards and challenge unacceptable behaviour.

As a Security Assistant you will:
- Maintain required security standards of the hospital by following relevant policy’s and procedures as defined by the Hospital.
- Be an active member of the team with a collective responsibility for the day to day operation taking forward the Security Managers strategy.
- Maintain excellent telephone communication skills and ability to meet and greeting visitors in a professional manner.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with all staff, visitors and service users.
- Be Monitoring own personal and professional development and seeking a regular appraisal and review of performance and progress.
- Help create a positive culture; set standards and challenge unacceptable behaviour.
- Remain calm during stressful situations
- Undertake any other tasks requested that are appropriate for the post.
- Attend mandatory and statutory training on an annual basis as required by Elysium Healthcare
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant previous experience working within a secure environment is desirable
- Excellent Security knowledge
- Clear communicator
- Knowledge of computer software programs
Where you will be working:
Location: Thornford Park, Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET
You will work at Thornford Park which is a combination of medium secure and low secure units and rehabilitation flats. The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering patients in their recovery and rehabilitation.
You will work alongside the multidisciplinary to provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/ complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder. Service users may have histories of offending and/or may have failed in previous placements.
