Security Cleared (DV) Cloud DBA (AWS, PostgreSQL, SQL)

We have partnered with a our global Defence client and seeking an experinced Security Cleared (DV) Cloud Database Specialist who will join an established team and collaborate on cutting-edge database solutions. 

The successful Cloud DBA will be responsible for the maintenance and optimization of client's PostgreSQL databases hosted on the AWS Cloud platform and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database reliability, availability, and performance, while also contributing to the overall architecture and strategy of our cloud-based database solution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Deploy and configure PostgreSQL on AWS RDS for optimal performance.
• Expertly manage replication, clustering, and backup/recovery.
• Proactively fine-tune database performance for mission-critical applications.
• Implement advanced security measures for PostgreSQL databases.
• Ensure strict compliance with industry standards and defence protocols.
• Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies for data integrity.
• Investigate and swiftly resolve high-stakes database incidents.
• Spearhead automation scripts for seamless database tasks and scaling
• Maintain comprehensive database documentation for precision and clarity.
• Collaborate with international teams, providing database expertise.
• Mentor and train team members for enhanced collective capabilities.

• Experience:

• Proven Cloud Database Administrator experience, specializing in PostgreSQL.
• Mastery of AWS and RDS, with a focus on global defence requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and best practices.
• Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and query optimization.
• Experience with database performance tuning and monitoring.
• Expertise in security practices and compliance standards.
• Scripting skills (Python, Bash, JavaScript).
• Agile problem-solving skills; thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty).
• Extensive experience with MySQL, Oracle, or NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Previous experience in a DevOps or agile development environment.

 Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will have a valid UK Security clearance prior to the start.
