About the Role
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to help protect and manage both the client and Securitas requirements & expectations.
- To actively manage the security department which consists of control room supervisors, controllers, security officers, response officers and IMR staff. To ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with procedures and policies and to take responsibility for the professional conduct & development of the entire team.
- To always ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations, such as GDPR, Health and Safety and in accordance with the National Gallery own policies and procedures.
- To act as a key security contact for all daily operational security matters, effectively liaising with other departments, services within the gallery to ensure effective communication of all matters pertaining to security and delivery of the professional security service, escalating issues appropriately.
- To work in partnership with the contractual representatives and service partners to ensure all aspects of site Security and Fire Prevention are effectively managed.
- To manage the deployment of the security team by way of monitoring of rosters, completion of duty time sheets, forward planning and co-ordination, allocation, and supervision to maintain staffing levels to core duties, event, and other ad hoc requirements, and ensure cover for holidays and other absence.
- To proactively manage public access into and throughout the building, controlling the entrances in line with the overall capacity of the total venue and individual rooms/ spaces in line with fire regulations for the site.
- To ensure that the security team are briefed on relevant security matters or any changes in procedures that have been made or are due to be implemented.
- To routinely monitor and oversee the entire team's activity and liaise directly with the control room supervisor to ensure the control room is operating correctly and that all technology is fully operable.
- Ensure the Health & Safety policies and procedures (including Risk Assessments) are complied with and ensure that all security personnel are fully informed in relation to both the H&S requirement and risk documentation.
- To raise the profile of the security department ensuring that customers are always well informed of any operational issues, procedures, and processes.
- To undertake any other operational tasks as identified that support safety and security in line with National Gallery and Securitas's aims and objectives.
- Manage the performance of the team including carrying out team meetings, individual counselling meetings, conducting investigations, when necessary and reporting on performance matters that require escalation.
- To ensure new starters to the team have received a complete induction and develop and manage probationer and annual training programmes for all employees, conduct performance monitoring including scenario testing.
- To conduct and positively participate in delivery of the annual appraisals of the team.
- To monitor completion of monthly security management information that will be used to report on the department / team's performance.
- To carry out routine engagement with Key Stakeholders across the Gallery.
- Undertake any other tasks as identified by the Operations Manager as being for the good and benefit of the service to the customer and deemed to be appropriate or necessary to the post.
