The Opportunity
Becoming a member of Heysham 2’s Security team you’ll conduct yourself in a professional, approachable and safety focused manner. Site safety and security will be at the forefront of your everyday operations, not only supporting your wider team but also ensuring the safety of colleagues, visitors and the wider public.
You will be our first point of contact for all who come onto site, manage varying requests from stakeholders on site, perform routine duties to ensure Station Security.
The position will be a full-time shift role.

Pay, benefits and culture
We can offer a competitive salary of £30,650 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time position; however, we will be happy to discuss options regarding part time flexibility and job share if you would like to highlight this on your application.

What you'll be doing
You will be performing patrolling duties, monitoring CCTV, using security systems and radio communications as well as driving site vehicles. You will be communicating and co-operating with different levels of staff, contract partners and regulators. There will be times when you will be assisting with unexpected events for which you will need to be proactive, level-headed and actively seek resolution.
As a Security Guard at Heysham 2, your day-to-day roles and responsibilities may include:
- Ensuring effective control of access to site
- Monitoring physical security alarm management systems, access control systems and other security assets
- Responding to emergencies in accordance with procedures and direction from Team Leaders
- Maintaining security logs, key registers, search registers and other related records
- Undertaking person/bag/vehicle searching in accordance with mandatory requirements
Who you are.
As a minimum, applicants will be educated to GCSE/national qualification standards (or equivalent). Candidates with these qualifications that include “C” and above grade passes in English and Mathematics will have an advantage.
You’ll be self-motivated, resilient and highly professional. Ideally having come from a regulated security background, working to strict regulations and procedures. Relevant security experience such as patrolling, person/bag and vehicle searching, key control and CCTV operation as well as other tasks that you may have undertaken previously will be advantageous.
As the role of a Security Guard is customer-facing, and at times highly demanding, you’ll naturally have exceptional people skills and be able to work in extremely challenging and fast paced environment.
To comply with Emergency Scheme arrangements staff should live within 25 miles (30 minutes) of Heysham 2.

An Assessment Centre will be held week commencing Monday February 19th, 2024.
Applicants will have to achieve Security Clearance Approval to SC Level prior to taking up their duties.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
