The Role Security Officer To provide security services to a professional and high quality supporting the academic, students, professional and public facing activities of the University. To provide a safe and secure environment of persons and property and excellent customer service To provide security services in and outside buildings and ensure basic and reasonable crime prevention measures are in place. Maintain the University property against loss, theft, damage (including water and fire) and waste. Undertake patrols (internal and external) of buildings and external spaces including securing and unlocking of buildings, precinct, and gardens. Provide detailed, accurate written reports and log via the incident management reporting system as required. Assist with VIPs and other major visits to the University. Ensure fire precautions are in place and means of escape are clear. Deal with enquiries from stakeholders and visitors to the Universities premises. Act as a fire responder for any incidents on site including incidents that may require the provision of first aid. Issue and activate ID cards where applicable. Monitor and report CCTV cameras and escalate issues to line manager on duty. To complete the daily lock / unlock routine of buildings as well as unlock of rooms as requested. To attend/respond to all incidents/emergencies whilst on shift. Carry out external security duties such as car park management, static position inside and outside of the building. Manage signing in books and procedures for buildings. To receipt, record lost and found property. Assist with couriers and mail deliveries to drop off point. Assist with lift and intruder alarm and report to the helpdesk. Report any building issues including maintenance, cleaning, or IT issues via the helpdesk. To work closely with university staff, students, and contractor’s staff to ensure a seamless and coordinated service is provided to all building users. To promote the University’s image and services wherever possible. Issue, record and manage keys as required in accordance with BS7984 standard. Answer telephones and emails as required.
