Job Title: Crisis Café Manager
Salary: £28-£30k per annum
Location: Southport and Crosby Crisis Cafés and homeworking
Hours: 35 hours per week (5-11pm, Friday-Sunday essential)

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Crisis Cafés is to provide an alternative access point for people requiring out of hours support, when experiencing negative symptoms of mental illness, which may result in crisis if support is not received. The cafés should work as a safety net so that people do not have to access A and E, with the focus being on reducing crisis with early intervention techniques and adequate support provisions.

This role will provide the management and to be a representative of the Crisis Cafés, liaise with partners and assist in the development of services across the Borough of Sefton.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To lead a high-quality service, providing front line support to individuals in potential mental health crisis.
  • Liaise with partners including clinical teams, to discuss referrals and clinical presentation of service users, making referral decisions based on this.
  • To ensure risk management and safety planning for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Identify service users triggers and implement a brief, structured support and safety planning programme with service users, to deliver agreed outcomes in a short period of time.
  • Line management of the support staff, including devising rotas to ensure the service is properly staffed and ensuring that all staff receive appropriate personal support and regular supervision meetings.
  • Develop links and referral pathways with a range of agencies including DWP, accommodation services, health services, police etc. Build positive relationships with colleagues and external organisations.
  • Support individuals who present in a range of ways, including; low mood, depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts, to develop their own coping strategies and to manage crisis situations; always following organisational safeguarding policy and procedure and professional boundaries.
  • Ensure all local policies/SOP’s are kept up to date and relevant to service delivery.
  • Be responsible for accurate data inputting onto the identified IT system, ensuring compliance with information governance.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of the service, collate and input timely data and suggest/implement service improvements.
  • To be accountable for ensuring that all records, including work diary, are maintained in accordance with Sefton CVS’s Records Management and Information Governance policies.
  • To be accountable for ensuring personal compliance with all Sefton CVS’s policy and procedures including safeguarding children and adults and health and safety alerting the line manager of any issues or concerns in relation to delivery of the service.
  • To produce performance and quality improvement reports as required by Sefton CVS, partners and funders
  • Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required within the general terms of the job description.
