SEMH Primary Teacher

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) Primary Teacher in Manchester.
This position involves assisting with day-to-day activities and providing educational support in all subjects on a full-time basis.

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher with expertise in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs to join our team.


Role Overview:
As a SEMH Primary Teacher, you will play a key role in providing high-quality teaching and support to students with SEMH difficulties, enabling them to achieve their full potential and make progress academically, socially, and emotionally.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with SEMH difficulties, ensuring access to the curriculum and promoting positive learning experiences.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, implementing tailored interventions and strategies to support their social, emotional, and mental health development.

  • Create and maintain a supportive and nurturing classroom environment that fosters positive relationships, emotional well-being, and resilience among students.

  • Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans for students with SEMH needs.

  • Use a range of assessment methods to monitor student progress, identify areas for development, and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.

  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external professionals, providing regular updates on student progress and collaborating on strategies to support their SEMH needs.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community through participation in school events, staff meetings, and professional development activities.

  • Requirements:



    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching in a primary school setting.

    • Demonstrated expertise in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, preferably within a primary school context.

    • Sound understanding of SEMH issues and their impact on learning and behavior, as well as effective strategies for supporting students with SEMH difficulties.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, families, and external professionals.

    • Resilience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of children with SEMH needs.

    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.
