Five Education is working with an SEMH primary school in the Bristol area to find suitable staff to support pupils who may have mental health issues and display challenging behaviour. The students you would work with will either be reintroduced to the classroom following a period of suspension or on a final warning before exclusion. This is a rewarding role for the right person as they will be developing a relationship based on trust with the students in order to help them achieve their potential and turn around their attitude towards learning. More often than not, these pupils will have experienced trauma in their lives and require a lot of patience and encouragement. Experience is not essential but beneficial. A perfect candidate would be passionate about learning, show initiative and organisational skills, resilience and flexibility. Responsibilities and duties:
- Guiding students - Supporting 1:1 and/or small groups of pupils
- Build trusting and constructive relationships with pupils
- Be a team player - Work with the school to ensure the best support and care
- Encourage engagement and development in child's learning
- Set challenges to promote self-esteem and independence
- Provide feedback to both teachers and pupils
- Encourage socialisation and good behaviour through being patient and empathetic
