SEMH / SEND Teaching Assistant

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) / Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistants Needed in Middlesbrough!
We are looking for caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work with students with special educational needs and disabilities or social, emotional and mental health needs in schools across Middlesbrough.
As a SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teachers to support students on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Your duties may include:
- Providing learning support and assisting students with class activities, coursework and homework
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers
- Developing individualized plans and modifying curriculum materials as needed
- Promoting student independence, self-esteem and social interaction skills
- Dealing with challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children with SEND/SEMH conditions
- Knowledge of child development and learning needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt lessons as needed
- Good organization and multitasking abilities
