Address Axcis Education are currently working with a pupil referral unit who are looking for an SEMH HLTA/ Higher Level Teaching Assistant, to join them on a fixed term basis for 12 months from April 2024. The setting has 25 pupils on roll and was rated as 'Good' by Ofsted in their latest report 2023. The setting has a catchment for local schools across North Yorkshire and has a great team in place that have a proven track record for supporting pupils back into mainstream schools. We're looking for an SEMH HLTA, ideally with experience of working in a similar setting, or a mainstream school with high levels of challenging behaviour, and someone that is equipped to work with pupils who need extra support with their learning and SEMH needs. You will have excellent behavioural management skills as well as experience in working with challenging student behaviour at KS3 and KS4. The role will require you to have excellent time management skills as well as effective methods of behaviour control. A working knowledge of Trauma informed practice and The Thrive Approach is desirable. De-escalation / Physical restraint / Team Teach training is essential. The specific responsibilities of the role will be based on school need and the skills and experience of the successful candidate. The post is full-time, but hours can be negotiated for the right candidate. You will: • Have at least 1 years’ experience of working with SEMH pupils either in a PRU setting or a mainstream school with challenging behaviour. • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with their behaviour and learning. • Enthusiastic, resilient and confident. • Be able to relate to pupils and have an understanding of a range of needs including learning difficulties. • Be able to work as part of a team
