Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a primary school setting? We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing tailored support to a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and additional learning difficulties, helping them navigate their educational journey with confidence and success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support to a student with Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties, ensuring they stay focused on their school work and overcome challenges.
- Assist the student with their academic tasks, including reading, writing, and comprehension, as well as other activities outlined in their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behavioral moments, fostering a calm and supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and classroom teachers to develop and implement appropriate support strategies for the student.
- Monitor and track the student's progress, recording observations and providing feedback to the SENCO and other relevant stakeholders.
- Experience working with children with SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
- Understanding of behavioral management techniques and strategies for supporting students with challenging behaviors.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students with diverse needs and behaviors.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and professionals to meet the needs of the student.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or education (desirable but not essential).
