We are currently seeking a Teacher with experience of teaching KS3 and 4 to join a specialist school based in Wilmslow, Cheshire for young people aged 5 to 19, who face difficulties as a result of complex communication needs typically associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions.
The role:
We are currently seeking an SEN Teacher to join the school. Your role will be to deliver high quality teaching and learning meeting the needs of children and young people with a range of complex and special needs enabling them to meet their full potential.
We are looking to appoint someone with experience of delivering outcomes for young people who are of secondary age but working below age related expectations and on a life skills/ functional pathway. Experience of teaching a range of subjects at KS2/KS3 and/or experience of delivering entry level and functional skills Maths and English would be advantageous
As a life skills pathway Class Teacher, your role will be to provide high quality teaching that will enable pupils to make progress not just academically but socially and emotionally. You must be creative and have high expectations. An understanding of ASC would be useful to support the planning and delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum to enable our pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas.
To facilitate this, you’ll plan and deliver lessons across a number of subjects that support young people achieving accreditation, building self-esteem and confidence
You’ll supervise and provide support and guidance to our Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants and play a key role in their Professional Development Reviews.
Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity. Additionally; you will also be expected to carefully monitoring the health, well-being and personal care of our pupils; informing Pastoral/clinical/ SEND support teams and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
Experience /Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher status
- Experience in achieving outstanding outcomes
- Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN
- Experience of working with young people with ASD
