Job Title: Experienced SEN Teacher (Secondary) - Complex Needs
Location: Exeter, Devon
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time (8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday)
Salary: Main Pay Scale (M1 to UPS3)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEN Teacher to join a compassionate and dedicated team at a large local authority SEN school in Exeter. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in educating and supporting secondary age pupils with SLD, MLD, ASD, and communication and interaction needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess lessons in accordance with the primary and early years curriculum, tailoring content to meet the diverse needs of students with complex requirements.
- Work with a class of 8-10 pupils, each presenting a range of Complex Needs, providing individualised support and adapting teaching methods accordingly.
- Support pupils in preparing for adulthood, emphasizing life skills, and fostering independence.
- Collaborate closely with parents, support staff, and external professionals to create a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
- Implement personalised strategies to address communication and interaction needs.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience working with secondary age pupils with SLD, MLD, ASD, and communication and interaction needs.
- Knowledge of both the primary and early years curriculum.
- Passion for providing the best education in a supportive environment for pupils with Complex Needs.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
