Hays Education are working with a school in Sheffield who are needing a Special Needs (SEND) Teaching Assistant from 21/02/2024. The job is full-time until the end of the academic year working 08:30 - 15:30 Monday to Fridays.
Your new role
In this job you will be working with children from EYFS through to Y6, both on a 1:1 basis and within small groups. You will be responsible for supporting the class teachers to create and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, and promoting positive behaviours. You will help implement individualised education plans (IEPs), adjusting and adapting when needed and providing progress updates to the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), other staff members and parents/carers when necessary.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience working with children/adults with Special Educational Needs, ideally within the last 2 years
- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification would be beneficial but not essential
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Ability to adapt to changes
- Knowledge of SEND practices and interventions
- Valid enhanced DBS certificate, or the ability to apply for a new one
