About ASEND Teaching Assistants
We are looking for confident SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with SEND in West Drayton. We support pupils with SEND who are struggling to engage in the classroom or who are not attending school for a number of reasons including a lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school. Our Teaching Assistants get a wide experience with pupils either in schools or as part of a small team outside of school assisting a tutor.
We work with pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times and in a range of settings including schools, community centres, homes and out in the community. We need a wide range of SEND Teaching Assistants to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.
About The Pupil
We are looking for a TA to support a 5-year-old boy, who will work alongside a tutor to support his learning and development. He has a diagnosis of ADHD and a complex learning and emotional needs profile. When he participates in activities he enjoys, such as swimming or dining out together, he is a cheerful boy who displays politeness towards strangers and engages in enjoyable conversations.
An ideal Teaching Assistant would possess prior experience in assisting children with regulating their emotions and managing their feelings. A TA should be capable of collaborating effectively with the tutor to ensure the pupil's optimal learning experience. Crucially, they must also be adept at fostering a low-arousal and secure learning atmosphere while establishing constructive working relationships.
About you:
You’ll have experience with SEN: ADHD, PDA, social emotional and mental health and behaviour of concern.
You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
Use a person-centred approach in their work
Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
