Job Title: Experienced SEMH Teaching Assistants
Location: Hillingdon and Slough
Empowering Learning is currently seeking experienced SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) Teaching Assistants for full-time roles in SEMH schools located in Hillingdon and Slough. The positions offer regular hours from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide support to students aged 5-16 with social and emotional mental health needs.
- Work closely with students who have special needs, including ADHD, SEMH, ASD, and complex needs.
- Utilize experience in youth work, youth support work, or with young offenders to engage with challenging teenagers effectively.
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding towards students facing trauma, which may manifest in volatile behavior.
- Implement excellent behavior management techniques to support students' emotional and educational progress.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Requirements:
- Passion for working with young learners with social and emotional mental health needs.
- Prior experience in a classroom setting is desirable.
- Experience in youth work, youth support work, or with young offenders is advantageous.
- Familiarity with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures.
- Ability to empathize with students facing emotional challenges and behavioral issues.
