Job purpose and key Areas
- To teach students who have been suspended from mainstream education due to social, emotional and associated learning needs, in years 5-8, and who have been placed in alternative provision.
- To teach a range of subjects to students with different academic and developmental levels, enabling all students to make significant progress.
- To use highly effective pedagogy, including SEN/SEMH practice.
- To support the potential reintegration of these students into mainstream provision. To provide a primary model curriculum for students within our secondary alternative provision.
- To continue to develop expertise in pedagogy including engaging, creative approaches that support progress for students who have found learning challenging in the past and will have gaps in their knowledge.
- To deliver primarily English as part of the primary model curriculum for students with learning needs.
- To support the teaching and intervention teams in delivering planned and targeted interventions to address gaps in learning.
- To supervise support staff within the setting.
- To liaise with senior managers and other agencies about students.
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the upper primary and early key stage three curriculum.
- To contribute to curriculum development with other colleagues.
- To analyse pupil data regularly and implement effective strategies for accelerating pupil progress.
