Position: SENCO & Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex Contract: Temporary (Summer Term) with potential for permanency About the Role: As the SENCO & DSL, you will play a vital role in promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment for all primary school students. While this is a non-class-based role, you will be responsible for various essential tasks including: Safeguarding: Acting as the school's safeguarding lead, you will ensure that robust safeguarding procedures are in place, conducting regular training sessions for staff, and overseeing all safeguarding matters. SEND Support: Providing day-to-day support for primary school students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), you will work closely with teachers to implement effective strategies and interventions to support their learning and development. Parental Communication: Building strong partnerships with parents and caregivers, you will effectively communicate with them regarding their child's progress, needs, and any concerns related to safeguarding or SEND provision. Requirements: Qualified SENCO with relevant experience in a primary school setting. DSL training and experience in a DSL role preferred. Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with parents, staff, and external agencies effectively.
