We are a dynamic and inclusive school in Wakefield dedicated to providing a supportive environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. As we continue to uphold our commitment to excellence and inclusivity, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our team. Position Overview: As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all students, regardless of their abilities or challenges, receive the support and guidance they need to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with students, teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement effective strategies that promote inclusion and remove barriers to learning. Collaborate with teachers to identify students with SEND and develop personalized learning plans that meet their individual needs. Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing effective teaching strategies and accommodations for students with SEND. Work closely with parents/carers to ensure that their perspectives and concerns are incorporated into the planning and delivery of support services. Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, speech therapists, and social workers, to access additional support and resources for students with SEND. Maintain accurate records of students with SEND, including assessments, progress reports, and support plans. Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in SEND education. Qualifications and Experience: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification. Recognized qualification in Special Educational Needs Coordination (SENCo) or willingness to work towards obtaining one. Proven experience working with students with SEND, preferably in a school setting. Excellent knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies. Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity in education. Why Join Us: Opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with SEND. Supportive and collaborative working environment. Ongoing professional development and training opportunities. Competitive salary and benefits package. Application Process: If you are passionate about inclusive education and have the skills and experience to excel in this role, we would love to hear from you.
