Have you got the ability to build strong working relationships with system stakeholders that will ensure we will deliver on the ambitious plan of change from the Department of Education for children and Young People with SEND?

This could be the opportunity for you!

Telford and Wrekin Council has been awarded the lead local authority in the West Midlands as part of the national DfE SEND/AP CHANGE programme. We will be involved in piloting activities over the next 18 months to help develop the future national SEND/Alternative Provision (AP) system. We are building a team over the duration of the project to help us develop our approach and the SEND & AP CHANGE Programme Strategic Lead will be responsible for delivery of activities. We are looking for a committed candidate with knowledge and experience in leading SEND teams in a Local Authority with a proven track record.

Whilst working in Telford and Wrekin this role will cross over local authority areas given the involvement of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire in the CHANGE programme. This is an exciting opportunity and you will contribute to raising the aspirations and standards of achievement for all SEND pupils, as well as supporting the development of partnerships, both locally and nationally.

In return, you will receive support with your continued professional development, flexible working, hybrid working (working from home combined with time in the office), corporate benefits, free parking and a competitive pension scheme.

We are committed to equality and diversity and welcome applications from people from all backgrounds.

If you are interested and would like to learn more about this opportunity, please contact Simon Wellman, Director, Education & Skills on 01952 380800.

This post is funded via the grant allocated by the DfE to support the SEND/AP CHANGE programme.
