SEND EHCNA Co-ordinator

Grade 4 - £32,076 - £39,186 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Permanent

Full-time, 36.5 hours per week (hybrid working)

Do you want to make a difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families?

Birmingham’s SEND services are growing as part of the council’s long-term commitment to children, young people and their families. More than 150 permanent roles are being created and we’re looking for motivated people to join us and make a meaningful impact in this priority area.

This role delivers key processes within the SENAR Service and you will be the named officer for a caseload of children and young people. Using your knowledge of SEND, you will ensure that information provided by parents, carers, children, young people and the professionals that work with them, lead to fully informed decisions about whether to assess or issue an EHCP. With your experience of report writing, you will make sure that EHCPs reflect the needs of our children and young people, and the provision they need to achieve their aspirations.  You will be experienced in adhering to statutory and locally derived timescales and procedures. Using your skills in communication you will ensure we focus on the needs of a child and adhere to child safeguarding practice.

We will match your commitment to us with opportunities to grow and develop your knowledge and experience in SEND as well as other rewarding career progression routes.

To be part of this dynamic team and to play your part in the improvements we are delivering for Birmingham families, please get in touch.

We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and aim to have a workforce that represents the communities we serve. Our data tells us that for this level of role, ethnic minorities are underrepresented and therefore we will use positive action to support us to achieve diverse shortlists. This may mean that recruitment times are a little longer, but we think this is worth it to achieve our aim.

If you'd like to chat about this role, contact Tracy Winwood (tracy.winwood@birmingham.gov.uk)

You must upload a Supporting Statement via the attachments part of your application. This is required for shortlisting; you need to describe how your experience and skills fit the essential criteria for the role as specified in the Person Specification. If you do not attach your Supporting Statement, your application will not be considered. Please do not attach CVs as we do not accept them.
