About the Role
The SEND department is a specialist department within a large educational establishment, ensuring that as a college, we meet the support needs of all of our students, work with parents, carers, many multi-agency teams and young people to support the specific support needs documented in EHCPs in order to help young people fulfil their educational potential.
This role requires someone with excellent organisation skills and strong abilities to be able to form and utilise networks beyond immediate terms, coupled with a good understanding of the SEND landscape and how support interventions may be undertaken for potential students with EHCPs going into any particular area of study. In this role, you would become the main point of contact for schools and EHCP students as they transition from their place of education to our college.
What You Will Do
  • Be the main point of contact for the School Liaison and Admissions teams with SEND queries • Liaise with relevant college staff to support with the application and interview process.
  • Arrange and host visits to the college for SEND students, in conjunction with the School Liaison team and campus SEND teams.
  • Identify potential students who may need transport and support them with the application process, ensuring that timetables are supplied to the transport team.
  • Liaise with parents, carers and potential students to ensure that an individual transition plan is in place where required.
  • Attend school EHCP reviews as required.
  • Identify current students who may need to support to transition to their next steps, both within college and externally, and work with the SEND team to ensure this is in place.
About You
  • Good awareness of SEND / High Needs learners.
  • Expertise, knowledge and understanding of the FE and Skills sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of organisational ability.
  • Able to demonstrate effective administration skills.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • The ability to work as a pro-active and supportive member of the team is vital, with skills to lead in defined areas.
