Job Title:Senior Adviser – Procurement

Salary: London salary: £50,000 / outside London salary: £47,200

Permanent /Full time

Location: Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh or London

The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. We work to promote public confidence in the democratic process and ensure its integrity. As one of two Senior Advisors for Procurement, you’ll provide strategic commercial and contract management insight and expertise.

The role

The Procurement function is growing to meet the changing and complex needs of the Electoral Commission. In this new and vital role, you’ll have every opportunity to apply your expertise across different areas, providing commercial advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders. Using your extensive experience in commercial roles, you’ll take the lead on commercial and tendering activities, from request to award, driving value for money and ensuring compliance with Government regulations and frameworks.

This is an exciting time to join the Electoral Commission, with the electoral system making key changes and the horizon for government procurement changing too. You’ll oversee delivery of the procurement service, contract life cycle, and supplier management activities, thus protecting our commercial risk exposure.

The person

You should hold or be working towards being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) qualification. As a skilled communicator, you’ll be confident building relationships with everyone you meet, from the budget holders to the contractors you negotiate with. You’ll understand contract regulation and frameworks, particularly in central government, and have a broad working knowledge of the supply market and services contracts. Overall, you’ll be flexible, collaborative and keen to develop the procurement service and yourself.

Please note that this role will require occasional visits to our London offices in Bunhill Row EC1Y 8YZ.

The rewards

We offer competitive salaries, with this role attracting a salary of £50,000 (London) / £47,200 (Outside London). Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for the Civil Service Pension scheme and generous holiday entitlement of 27.5 days (full time employee) plus public holidays, rising with length of service to 30 days.

Like all our roles, this opportunity offers flexible, hybrid working (2 days per week in one of our offices).
