About The Role

Reporting into the Head of Connections, this Senior Management Leadership role will have full responsibility for driving overall operational delivery of the Alt-net Customer Connections workstreams across the South West and South Central regions.

The role holder will be instrumental in providing leadership, setting direction and developing opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness and customer service through empowering and inspiring their operational field engineering management team and team members, whilst maintaining a strong safety ‘zero-harm’ and performance leadership culture so that our people work safely and flourish to deliver the best possible business and customer outcomes.

The right person must have demonstrable experience working with embryonic field service teams, helping establish effective operational systems and processes, and be comfortable decision making where there are high levels of ambiguity.

Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and customers is vital for optimal delivery and future growth of this key workstream.
Overview of responsibilities
  • Developing a high-performance customer centric culture, with commercial focus
  • Informed decision making by understanding the detail, supported by data.
  • Right sizing operational teams ensuring that sufficient crew capacity exists to underpin customer commitments.
  • Accountable for creating a safe working environment with a zero-harm culture, ensuring teams are trained as appropriate and sufficient governance in place to ensure all health and safety checks are completed within required timescale and quality.
  • Champion an ethos that strives for continual improvement and challenges the status quo at all levels.
  • Commercially aware with performance leadership techniques that deliver sustainable growth and addressing behavioural and compliance issues following our process and procedures.
  • Lead, empower, engage, and motivate your people to be the best that they can be.
  • Focus on people leadership development, including succession planning, training & development of your teams.
  • Accountable for owning the relationship with operational partners such as Back Office whilst challenging stakeholder performance.
  • Present to a wide audience of people on a frequent basis that portrays why Avonline should remain as the partner of choice.
  • Risk management, jeopardy management and protection of the contract by building and maintaining excellent relationships with all key stakeholders, including Clients, Directors, Senior Management Team colleagues, subcontract suppliers and the direct labour workforce.
  • A true customer champion, with the ability to be solution focused, demonstrating customer empathy in everything you do.
Experience and knowledge
  • Senior management level experience within the Telco sector
  • Strong leadership abilities with a proven experience leading successful engineering teams and ability to manage operational risk.
  • Demonstrable record of performance leadership and coaching for performance
  • Self-motivated, result driven and thrives in a busy working environment.
  • Dynamic leadership capability, understanding culture and what it means to cultivate a leadership mentality.
  • Renowned for creating sustainable performance through personal leadership and the ability to build brilliant teams.
  • Strong commercial management skills
  • Strong communication skills and abilities to build solid relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of systems with the ability to use Excel and PowerPoint to build compelling stories.
  • Ability to collect, collate and analyse information, and then to influence senior management.
  • Able to lead, coach and develop direct line reports.
  • Possessing a good understanding of behavioural safety management and lead the business towards a zero incident / accident performance.
  • A team player, adept at holding others to account through a challenging and supportive leadership style, whilst consistently delivering on their own commitments
  • Able to identify, understand and deliver the requirements of clients and all key stakeholders.
  • Understand that continuous improvement is a foundation for our long-term economic success.
