Job description

Turner Lovell is seeking two experienced Senior Authorised Persons to oversee the energisation of our clients high voltage substations across the UK and Ireland. As part of an established commissioning team, you will play a critical role in the final stages of the commissioning process, ensuring safe energisation, compliance with client safety rules, and accurate documentation. You will energise the 400kV power supply.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and execute the energization of the new HV substation, interfacing with the existing 400kV power supply infrastructure
  • Act as the Senior Authorized Person (SAP) during the entire commissioning process, enforcing safety rules and overseeing all activities on site
  • Implement and promote safe systems of work in line with the company's stringent safety policies and procedures
  • Apply the company's safety rules, issue permits to work, and provide sanctioning for testing activities as required
  • Demonstrate expertise in identifying, troubleshooting, and providing solutions to any faults or issues encountered during the commissioning phase
  • Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping throughout the commissioning process
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve a seamless and efficient project delivery


Qualifications/Experience:

  • Proven track record as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) in commissioning HV substation assets - DNO or TSO
  • Extensive experience in commissioning HV assets and transmission and distribution projects, with a focus on voltages essential - 400 kV
  • In-depth knowledge of HV switchgear, protection systems, and associated equipment
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical safety regulations, codes, and industry best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for fault identification and resolution
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective coordination and stakeholder management
  • Valid certifications and electrical qualifications as required for the role
  • No specific Distribution Network Operator (DNO) or Transmission Operator (TO) authorization requirement needed
