SENIOR BUYER - PREFERABLY WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR - BASED NORWICH - £45K - 12 MONTH CONTRACT WITH A POSSIBILITY OF BECOMING PERMANENT - NEED TO BE HAPPY TO TRAVEL AS AND WHEN
Reporting to Head of Procurement - Weekly Hours 37.5 hours per week
Job Description
The Role:
Primary responsibility for all supply chain activities such as analysis, sourcing, tendering, contract implementation and development of the companies Group key spend areas. Focusing on the achievement of optimum value delivery and the development of supplier and stakeholder relationships. Managing procurement tasks from concept to award.
Main Responsibilities - Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
To develop and implement sourcing and procurement category plans aligned to multiple business areas across the Company Goals and objectives to deliver value leadership, innovation, service excellence with process and product improvement.
To run and manage the full tendering process via both Contracts Finder and FTS systems for multiple areas of the Company group business including some JCT tenders - Supplier engagement; selection, evaluation, contracting and ongoing management - Implementation of initiatives, through effective program and project management.
Provide regular market analysis for key spend areas, benchmark data and supplier evaluation, to support procurement planning and risk management - Focus and presence balanced between Procurement Team and relevant operational teams to ensure effective integration, delivery and pro-active development of stakeholder relationships.
Responsible for supplier performance management and continuous improvement to ensure contracts meet and exceed business objectives.
Provide support and advice to Company Group business units in all procurement matters and with the sourcing of new solutions and materials - Provide volume and price forecasts for budget and forecasting processes - Responsible for performance reporting.
Ensure compliance to the Company Group procurement policy and Public Procurement process where relevant.
Constantly analyse and assess opportunities for commercial advantage. To engage and negotiate confidently and competently with supply chain, internal and external stakeholders.
Manage contracts and ensure adherence to terms.

The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied therefore the post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate to the role and as requested by his/her line manager.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Training
Hold or be working toward MCIPS or equivalent procurement qualification Business Management Qualification Knowledge of beginning to end supply chains, production and logistics
Experience
In-depth knowledge of Public Procurement processes and tendering methods Understanding of strategic sourcing tools and techniques Good, working knowledge of procurement performance measures, processes, and contracts Proven strategic procurement background gained in FMCG/logistics/material management/manufacturing or Services businesses Considerable experience across all aspects of procurement
Skills/Abilities
An articulate communicator, confident liaising with decision makers at all levels with strong networking and negotiation skills and with the ability to inform, persuade and influence. Excellent organisational and leadership skills demonstrating credibility and gravitas with the ability to engage effectively, at all levels with multiple stakeholders. Analytical with innovative problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail. Perceptive commercial awareness across a broad range of sectors and industries with an understanding of the workplace methods and practices relevant to the Company Group service.

Requirements Travel is a requirement of the role. Full driving licence required.
