Purpose of Position:

• The Senior Buyer will take ownership for achieving the optimum value on total costs, through sourcing strategies, supplier evaluation and selection, performance monitoring and supplier relationship management.
• You'll also be contributing to the development and implementation of supply chain strategies, with a particular focus on logistics, as well as supporting and mentoring junior members of the Purchasing & Supply Chain function.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Crafting and refining Category Strategies, delivering insights through comprehensive Category Reviews to meet and exceed our ambitious departmental and business objectives, with a laser focus on logistics.
• Collaborating closely with Operational Buyers to secure and sustain an exemplary supply base, championing improvement initiatives for suppliers falling short of our high standards.
• Reevaluating and enriching our processes and procedures with your seasoned expertise, in harmony with our Supply Chain squadron.
• Navigating the day-to-day operational helm, ensuring the smooth sailing of critical procurement processes.
• Vigilantly managing landed costs, maintaining an eagle-eye on monthly updates to ensure impeccable cost capture.
• Cultivating robust supplier relationships to secure the most advantageous terms for our procurement needs, including conducting rigorous on-site audits.
• Resolving quality and commercial quandaries with finesse, working hand-in-hand with internal and external stakeholders.
• Infusing best practices and pioneering processes into our operations, coupled with the empowerment of our team through targeted training and upskilling.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Proven expertise in operational & strategic procurement, ideally in manufacturing/distribution of engineered products or similar.
• Results-oriented, with strong leadership skills to inspire collaboration and achieve goals.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interactions with all levels of external suppliers and stakeholders.
• Skilled in teamwork, persuasion, and negotiation across various departments to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Proven problem-solving abilities, both independently and with teams.
• Ability to thrive under pressure in a busy environment, prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Strong IT skills, proficient in MS Office for data analysis and presentations.
• CIPS Level 4 or equivalent in Supply Chain, or actively pursuing it.
• A Level, Degree, or equivalent education/ experience
• Valid UK driving licence, willing to travel occasionally.
• Experience in Automotive, Aerospace, Marine, or similar Engineering / Technical elated fields is a plus.

• Salary: £43,000- £47,000 + Bonus
• Hours: Full-Time Monday - Friday
