Senior Change & Business Analyst - 18 month FTC

Reports to: Solutions Architect

Responsible for: Supporting the implementation of RCGP's enhanced Digital Transformation strategy to initiate related projects and stakeholder engagement.

Job purpose:

We are at an exciting stage of change. The Senior Change & Business Analyst will work on new projects within our Digital Transformation strategy in supporting our agenda to achieve the best for our Members.

The candidate will lead on business analysis techniques, models, methods and standards to deliver a solution-focused approach to business needs options and will manage on smaller projects. The post-holder will support colleagues through a change programme as we implement new applications and new solutions using our existing technology estate.

The role will liaise with stakeholders in order to help them shape their requirements, both being a champion for the user but also helping them understand how to fit what they want to do into the wider Digital Transformation picture.

Dimensions

  • Leadership of the entire business analysis process for specific projects, including management of third parties, using existing templates and improving them in collaboration with other Business Analysts, with guidance and sign-off from the Solutions Architect.
  • Study requirements feasibility to determine if the requirement is viable technically, operationally and economically (cost/benefit analysis).
  • Undertaking feasibility studies and impact analyses to support strategic planning, validate business need, providing possible solution options and for enabling business and project decisions to be reached.
  • Assessing requirements feasibility by analysing requirement risks and constraints, modifying requirements to mitigate identified risks.
  • Apply a change management process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative.
  • Support the design, development, delivery and management of communications.
  • Ensure that change is well co-ordinated and communicated across the College, leading on this where required.
  • Provide input, document requirements and support the design and delivery of training programs for staff where required.
  • Liaison with DIGIT and the Digital Transformation Board from a governance perspective, as required, ensure project governance is followed, implemented and recorded.
  • Liaison with third Party suppliers from a delivery perspective and input into processes.

Key result areas:

  • Rapidly develop a full understanding of our Digital Transformation strategy and its activities demonstrating the ability to assimilate, integrate and extract relevant information in a concise manner.
  • Work with colleagues across the business to identify business need including prioritising requirements to reflect the fact that not all requirements are of equal value to the business and finding ways to ensure that multiple parties can meet their own goals and interests - promoting collaboration.
  • Carry out validation and verification of requirements throughout a project to ensure that the system/solution satisfies the requirements.
  • Define and document business solution designs that incorporate the to be business processes to support business readiness and delivery including testing and training.
  • Ensure that new services are successfully introduced into production with the right support.
  • Work with colleagues within the team as required, being responsible for ensuring accurate requirements gathering for large and complex projects with up to 300 Use Cases with multiple stakeholders across the college, and with external stakeholders where required.
  • Ensure that appropriate governance and approval sign-off processes are in place including identification of relevant milestones and decision points.
  • Deliver products and/or services, ensuring these are produced to timescale, budget and specification.
  • Manage, co-ordinate and track the different workstreams within IT projects, to ensure that all are progressing and meeting agreed milestones.
  • Management of effective Change Management process.
  • Provide regular updates on progress - by written report and/or in person - to relevant programme boards and working groups.
  • Establish effective working relationships with a variety of senior stakeholders, including College Officers, Leadership, Senior Managers, Regional Managers and third-party suppliers.
  • Support and manage all levels of stakeholder, from administrative staff to Executive Directors and Officers, keeping them well-informed about the project(s) they are responsible for delivering and ensuring a quality comms strategy.
  • Provide effective management of high-profile stakeholder meetings and relevant working groups.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure the College receives the appropriate Products and Services in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or professional experience (essential) in a relevant discipline e.g. Information Systems or Business Administration (desirable).
  • Prince-2 / Agile / PMP or equivalent BA certification (desirable).

Experience

  • Experience as a Business Analyst and/or Project Manager on several projects involving 3rd parties and application development or implementation.
  • Experience of articulating business problems and translating into functional specifications.
  • Experience with large-scale organisational change efforts.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles.
  • Understanding of the project life cycle from inception through to completion, including project initiation, process and requirements analysis, testing, and transition to live activities.
