Job summary
Are you a qualified Pharmacy Technician looking to take the next step in your career? Are you looking for a role that can offer you autonomy but also support with your career progression?
Due to some additional funding, we are excited to be able to be recruit a new Senior Clinical Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team based on Community Health wards at Prospect Park Hospital in Reading, and West Berkshire Community Hospital, Thatcham.
As a key member of the pharmacy clinical services team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of Clinical Pharmacy services, key objectives and the efficient use of resources. You will work with pharmacists, and Clinical pharmacy Technicians, liaising closely with the Clinical Pharmacy Technicians Team Manager, and integrate with the ward teams to give great patient care and experience.
For this position we are looking for someone from a hospital pharmacy background who has a greater clinical knowledge and is confident in supporting more junior colleagues.

The service operates 9-5 Monday to Friday and we are open to applications from both full and part time candidates.
Main duties of the job
- Responsibility for the ongoing development and delivery of our Clinical Pharmacy vision
- Ensuring effective implementation and operation of Clinical Pharmacy Technician functions
- Support the CPPTM with the ongoing delivery and development of Clinical Pharmacy Technician services within the area, and in a coordinated way across the Trust
- Lead by example, modelling the role of Senior Clinical Pharmacy Technician, and working with all other Pharmacy colleagues to ensure seamless services

Education/Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC
- Nationally accredited medicines optimisation qualification intermediate level
- Nationally accredited checking technician qualification
- BTEC level four: Professional Diploma in Pharmacy Clinical Services or equivalent experience
Desirable
- APTUK member
- Nationally accredited medicines optimisation qualification advanced level
- NVQ A1 Assessor for pharmacy services
Training
Essential
- Evidence of recent and ongoing CPD development
Desirable
- Coaching and mentoring training
Previous Experience
Essential
- Substantial post registration hospital pharmacy experience
- Detailed knowledge of CPT professional standards and practice and acting as a role model for these
- Knowledge and experience of leadership, management, supervision and development of staff
- Knowledge and experience of implementing improvements in the quality of service
- Stakeholder relationship management
- Development of systems and processes to support patient experience, feedback and public involvement
- Experience of recruitment and appointment procedures
- Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams and ward environments
Desirable
- Implementation of quality improvement methodology
- Mental health services experience
- Community hospital experience
- Knowledge and experience in delivering national CPT training programmes

Essential

- Able to build relationships and work with/as part of multi- disciplinary teams within the wider Trust network

- Ability to write, review and follow Standard Operating Procedures accurately and in a timely manner
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and work under pressure at times

- Be able to recognise and communicate the need for change and able to participate in change management
- Be able to delegate to, and coordinate with, other staff
- Support and train pharmacy staff undertaking relevant Clinical Pharmacy processes and procedures
- Good IT skills including the use of standard MS Office programmes, the internet and all pharmacy computer systems
- Understand and works within their own clinical limitations and know when and who to refer to
Additional Requirements
Essential
- Ability and willingness to travel to multiple Trust sites
- Full UK driver's license and access to a motor vehicle that can be used for work purposes
