With the expansion and reconfiguration of Clinical Illustration services RWT provide at SaTH, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified registered B6 Clinical Photographer to lead the Tele-dermatology service.
Primary responsibility is to lead the Tele-dermatology service base at Hollingswood in Telford. However, the role is not limited to Tele-dermatology; as a member of a larger team you will be involved in the wider services delivered by the Clinical Illustration Service to SaTH, Walsall Healthcare Trust and The Royal Wolverhampton Trust.
Although clinically focused, we are looking for a creative, good all-rounder with a good work ethic, excellent video, organisational and communication skills who can consistently deliver first class results, under pressure and within short time scales.
As services at SaTH continue to develop, it’s a great opportunity to develop your management skills.
Your usual place of work will be the CDC hub at Hollingswood, Telford but there will be times when the service requires you to work at Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton or Walsall), other sites where we provide Clinical Illustration services, so your own transport is essential.

Primary responsibility is to lead the Tele-dermatology service base at Hollingswood in Telford. The successful applicant will provide all aspects of clinical and non-clinical photography, including Ophthalmology imaging, video filming and editing and be able to discuss knowledgeably with clients on providing all aspects of media, i.e. digital and print and negotiate delivery and cost.
The role involves the daily production and delivery of high quality clinical and reprographic photography, video and some graphic design and DTP / Presentation work for clinicians at SaTH.
As well as routine clinical photography and video we work closely with the Ophthalmology department which requires specialist skills to deliver high quality FFA, OCT and other imaging modalities to support patient treatment.
This is a diverse post which requires excellent and proven organisational abilities and communication skills, including diplomacy, negotiation and persuasiveness.
The post holder will be responsible to the Senior Clinical Photographer (Service Lead, SaTH) and have line management responsibilities for the Tele-dermatology Clinical Photographer (currently vacant).

Responsible for the clinical photography undertaken in Community Diagnostic Centre for the Tele dermatology and Tele-dermoscopyservice based at Hollingswood Neighbourhood Centre, Telford.
Accurately capture clinical and non-clinical stills and video images. Provide advice to users, as and when necessary, regarding illustration solutions.
Use professional judgement and experience to interpret complex information from clinical request form, provide clinicians with high quality clinical photographs and videos for all specialist areas such as, Dermatology, Orthodontics, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery. These images will be used for clinical assessment, patient records, teaching, publication and research.
Hold full professional membership of the Institute of Medical Illustrators and AHCS registration.
Understand and be able to communicate information concerning consent levels, confidentiality, distribution, copyright, security, and Data Protection and Caldicott guidelines. This will include having to accommodate patient’s views and preferences regarding cultural and religious differences. Showing tact and sensitivity especially when communicating with patients with learning or physical disabilities or anxious and non-English speaking patients.
The working hours are 37.5 per week and will be in line with the Tele-dermatology clinic which will run between the hours of 8:30 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Friday (7.5 hours per day with 30 minutes lunch break). The planned hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 10:30 am to 6:30 pm on Thursday. As this is a new service, this is subject to change. These hours may be extended to work 37.5 hours between 8:30 am and 8:00 pm Monday to Saturday in phase 2 of the Community Diagnostic Centre expansion.
Day to day supervision of 3 Healthcare Assistants, line manager of Clinical Photographer, Tele-dermatology.
