Job description

Senior Cloud Architect - AWS - Salary up to £70,000 plus up to 28.9% employer pension contributions, hybrid home working, flexible hours, and great work life balance.

Location

This role can be based from any of the following locations: Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield. We work a hybrid model, with some time at home and some in the office.

DWP's Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) team design, build and run all DWP hosting infrastructure including Public Cloud and On-Premise hosting, and help product and service owners to transition to the Cloud.

This Senior Cloud Architect role in the HCS architecture team will be perfect for you if you are a cloud infrastructure architect with significant experience of AWS.

What you'll do:

  • You'll provide the HCS team with skills in Public Cloud and on-premises computing services, with a focus on AWS and, ideally, Microsoft Azure
  • Create technical solutions and designs that meet user needs
  • You will Provide a consistent set of solution views - communicate and describe the construction of the solution to all stakeholder.
  • Will support delivery teams, blending technical (public cloud development and architecture) and behavioural (leadership and communication) skill
  • You'll lead, deliver and support infrastructure architecture design
  • You will own the product architecture, collaborate on product roadmaps and represent product designs at governance forums
  • Advocate and support delivery of solutions that reduce both architectural complexity and technical debt
  • You'll be an active part of our brilliant DWP Architecture community - give advice and to other architects and digital experts, and access learning and support to help you be at your best.

Your Essential Skills:

  • Architecture design and modelling techniques, patterns, tools and standards
  • Public cloud technologies, cloud hosting, container, and networking design patterns, tools and best practices
  • Experience with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Serverless, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) deployment technologies, design patterns, tools and best practices
  • Windows and Linux operating system technologies and deployment design patterns, tools, and best practices.
  • Agile / DevOps delivery methodologies and best practices
  • Experience with Cloud Container platforms (e.g. Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines would also be beneficial

In return for your skills, we pay between £52,412- £70,000per annum.
