HomeServe are currently recruiting for an experienced Azure DevOps Cloud Engineer to join the Technology & Change Team in Walsall.  You will design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure Azure cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Azure and Azure DevOps, strong CI/CD pipeline development skills, and proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and ARM templates.

Key responsibilities include automating deployment and maintenance processes, optimising system performance, and ensuring compliance with security standards. The role requires solid scripting abilities, familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes, and strong collaboration and problem-solving skills. Azure certifications and experience with configuration management tools are a plus. Join our team to drive our cloud initiatives, ensuring robust and efficient solutions.

We work in a hybrid way, mostly remote with a requirement to travel into our Walsall office at least twice a week to work with the team. With that in mind you will be located within a convenient commute to Walsall.
 
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • You will be reporting directly to the Head of Cloud Delivery and owning the end to end delivery responsibility of multiple cloud projects and migrations from on-premise workloads to the Cloud within a large scale business / IT programmes. Working with the wider IT team to ensure that projects are delivered to time, cost, quality and adhere to both IT and business governance frameworks. Day to day responsibility for Cloud infrastructure. 
  • A subject matter expert for infrastructure and platforms while working with software delivery teams within a scrum team to design, configure and implement the automated software delivery pipeline. As the Platform Owner, you will be required to possess a high level of technical understanding working with cloud and DevOps technologies, working towards continuous integration and deployment and working collaboratively with software delivery teams.
  • Key delivery of automated operational processes, including DevOps Operations, Design & Build Phases, Technical Application / DevOps and Infrastructure Implementation, as well as creating best practice guidelines and recommending changes to streamline release & deployment operations.
  • You will be working as an Azure SME to ensure that any Azure infrastructure is secured. To be successful you will have experience working with Azure using Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Azure DevOps
  • Experience of scripting languages such as Python/Powershell and either or Terraform/Ansible An eagerness to learn and upskill yourself on different areas of Cloud / Cyber Security This is an excellent opportunity to establish yourself as an Azure SME and take the lead on all Cloud Security projects

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following knowledge, skills and attributes:

Essential:

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on platforms such as Azure
  • Implement and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM Templates.

    CI/CD Pipeline Development:

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Ensure the CI/CD processes are efficient, automated, and support rapid deployment cycles.

    Automation and Scripting:

  • Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Write scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

    Monitoring and Performance Optimization:

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Optimize system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain uptime and system health.

    Collaboration and Support:

  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to align on infrastructure requirements and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

         Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce security best practices and compliance requirements within cloud environments.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
  • Report on system performance, incidents, and changes to stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and measuring customer experience and KPIs

Desirable:

  • Experience working on Linux based infrastructure
  • Excellent understanding of RubyPython, Bash, Terraform Perl, and Java
  • Configuration and managing databases such as MySQL, SQL, Cosmos
  • Working knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services
  • Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles
