Role title - Senior Commercial Advisor (maternity cover)

Location - Aberdeen (travel may be required)

Employment status - Contract (10 months)

Working arrangement - Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 from home)

Role Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to develop and integrate new sources of captured CO2 from dispersed sites in the UK and internationally to the Viking CCS transportation and storage project, including business development, implementation and execution of an emitter commercial development strategy ensuring alignment and integration between the strategic, commercial, regulatory and technical aspects of the project to help ensure an optimal commercial outcome for Viking CCS, both to maximise value and appropriately manage risk.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Viking CCS leadership team to develop and implement the integrated commercial and technical strategy aimed at attracting new sources of pipeline and ship-based CO2 to the Viking CCS transportation and storage system.
  • Working together with the wider Viking CCS team, facilitating the development and implementation of an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach for the assessment, selection and high grading of new sources of pipeline and ship based CO2 in compliance with Viking CCS system requirements.
  • Working together with the wider Viking CCS team, maintaining an integrated view of system constraints over life of system and future expansion opportunities.
  • Represent Harbour Energy in discussions with existing and new pipeline and ship based capture customers and shipping development project partners.
  • Working with the wider Viking CCS team, implement a shipping project development strategy.
  • Liaise effectively with existing and potential new shipping partners on development of a UK and European CO2 shipping framework.
  • Working with the Commercial Manager – Viking CCS develop, negotiate and subsequently manage appropriate commercial agreements to secure new sources of pipeline and ship based CO2 complying with Viking CCS T&S system requirements, including (but not limited to) study agreements, non-disclosure agreements, memorandums of understanding and collaboration agreements.
  • Work collaboratively with the economics team to continuously develop the economic model to support the appraisal of regulated, merchant and hybrid models of transport and storage.
  • Represent Harbour Energy in UK regulatory and general industry forums as appropriate.
  • Preparation of necessary materials for government and partner committee meetings.
  • Together with the Viking CCS communications lead, working with Investor Relations, Public Affairs and Communications to ensure accuracy and consistency of public and stakeholder messaging (both internal and external)
  • Supporting the preparation of materials for Harbour Energy’s stage gate process and associated assurance requirements relating to the integration of sources of CO2.
  • Supporting budget and schedule management relating to the works required for integration of new sources of pipeline and ship based CO2.
  • Develop and maintain competitor awareness and analysis on transport and storage providers and analysis of capture demand pathways (decarbonised power, hydrogen, industrial, greenhouse gas removals) to inform future project strategy.
  • Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager.
