Senior Commercial Manager
Hybrid – Attached to Hook (Hampshire) or London
Full Time
Permanent Salary, Very Competitive with benefits
Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to provide commercial and financial leadership to the Serco UK & Europe Division. This will aid in its pursuit of new business opportunities, providing assurance that bids and new business will deliver profitable and sustainable growth with an acceptable and proportionate risk profile.
This role is extensively deployed onto bid teams across all Serco UK & Europe business units (Justice & Immigration, Citizen Services, Healthcare, Transport, Defence), requiring close collaboration and visibility with other disciplines including legal, solutions, business development and the Finance business unit.
In this role, you will have wide ranging access to senior stakeholders, providing you with visibility and opportunity to grow in the business. You will also help to drive projects across key public sector contracts that make a huge difference to society.
As part of this you’ll:
Play a key role in developing commercial propositions which are attractive in financial and commercial terms to Serco’s customers.
You will own and manage the customer value proposition, including price/score to win analysis, competitor analysis, value for money and benchmarking
Ensure financial modelling and commercial best practice is applied to bids and that there is a robust transition to post-contract management
Analyse information provided by customers in the form of draft contracts and associated documentation to ensure that critical commercial elements are understood and, where appropriate, negotiated with the client. This includes terms such as the pricing, payment and performance mechanisms, change control, governance, and scope definition
Own and manage the risks and opportunities process from capture through to evaluation, mitigation and treatment
Ensure commercial and financial information provided to Serco governance is complete and accurate, and presented in a meaningful way with visualisation aids where relevant. Resolve issues raised
Drive high performance in people and process across Serco UK & Europe
What you’ll need to do the role:
Demonstrable track record of successful involvement in bidding and winning, in competitive environments, profitable and sustainable business
Knowledge of, and track record of successfully operating, company governance processes applied to complex sales opportunities

Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills
Excellent analytical skills with ability to assimilate information quickly and communicate key messages simply and effectively to the business
Able to create a compelling a narrative with the intent to influence or persuade key internal stakeholders and customers
An energetic self-starter who is able to demonstrate they can work without supervision
Relevant professional financial qualification desirable but not essential
Flexibility to travel
Security Clearance may be required at SC level
