British Library Publishing has transformed in the last 10 years into one of the foremost institutional publishers of exciting, innovative and beautifully produced trade books for the mainstream book market and heritage/gift sector.
We're now looking for a proven Senior Commissioning Editor with a minimum of five years in-house experience commissioning and producing notable and successful non-fiction titles in both illustrated and non-illustrated formats. Alongside commissioning and editorial work on a set of dedicated titles, this role also includes the wider management of the quality, budgets and schedules of approximately 20 further non-fiction titles annually working with in-house and external non-fiction project teams. The ideal candidate for this role will need to demonstrate deep, relevant experience and proficiency in a related trade publishing position. A wider interest in classic fiction and literary history would also be an advantage.
