This role is based in our Digital team (web). This role supports the management of Manchester City Council’s website and intranet, creating clear, simple and user-friendly web content.
This is part of the City Council’s Corporate Communications function at Manchester City Council.
The role holder will support the delivery of effective communications to promote the Council and its priorities across website channels and products.
The role will support Communications to deliver priority campaigns.
The role will be required to evaluate and implement digital web-based communications activity. The role will support and offer advice with regards to website content and user journeys.
This role will be part of the team that ensures all content on the Council's website is well-structured, task based, accessible and easy to find so that it meets the needs of its users.
The role requirements include:
- Excellent account and relationship management
- Writing, editing and creating web content that meets user needs and applies good UX principles
- Having a good working knowledge of accessibility legislation relating to the Web
- Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to fully support the Council’s website and our customers.
- Acting as an advisor to services on WCAG and web content best practice
- Managing governance
- An understanding of the application of basic HTML coding would be beneficial, but is not essential.
- You will be required to analyse data from a variety of sources (such as Google Analytics) to inform decisions and communications plans.
You will be required to use the Council’s website CMS (Jadu) and intranet CMS (Interact) to manage, create and update content including web pages, forms and directories. You should have strong digital skills and be able to use multiple digital tools.
