Faculty / Directorate The Directorate offers full-service marketing and communications support to the university, comprising brand and creative development; design and print services; corporate and student recruitment marketing campaigns; CRM and conversion campaigns; faculty marketing and recruitment; reputation management; media relations; internal and external communications engagement; events; schools and colleges engagement; Widening Participation; enquiry management and follow up; web and digital development and market insight. Role The Senior Communications Officer plays a pivotal leadership role in the communications team, overseeing project management, planning, and evaluation of communication initiatives in alignment with university priorities. Actively managing diverse stakeholder relationships, they orchestrate the business partnering approach within the team, ensuring seamless collaboration. Responsible for creating and implementing engagement plans for critical university audiences, the Senior Communications Officer focuses on staff, students, prospective students, and external stakeholders. This includes supporting internal transformations, enhancing student engagement, delivering content across multiple platforms, and leading a compact team of Communications Officers. In steering the implementation of the university's engagement communications strategies, the Senior Communications Officer ensures a professional and effective communication approach. This involves offering engagement support across channels, developing detailed communications plans, and serving as an ambassador for the directorate, committed to upholding DMU values and fulfilling any duties commensurate with the job grade. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate brings extensive expertise in producing high-quality content across diverse channels, encompassing digital, social media, content management systems, intranet, email, newsletters, and face-to-face interactions. With a robust background in corporate copywriting for various platforms, including speeches, brochures, web content, and social media, they exhibit a comprehensive understanding of effective communication strategies. Drawing upon their experience, the ideal candidate has successfully created and implemented communications plans that align with organizational and team priorities, considering stakeholder engagement, available resources, and realistic timescales. They possess in-depth knowledge of social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn, and demonstrate the ability to utilize metrics and reporting for continual communication improvement. The ideal candidate is distinguished by their positive and proactive attitude, approaching challenging targets with a can-do mentality. Their experience in managing procedures and processes ensures smooth and effective team-wide operations, and they excel in managing multiple projects concurrently for diverse stakeholders.
