Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team within the Department of Adult Social Care. 

We would like to recruit a dynamic, forward-thinking and flexible individual to a management post within the Contracts Team.

The Contracts Team within Financial Support Services is responsible for issuing contracts and making payments to Residential Care providers, making payments to service users receiving Direct Payments, and auditing these accounts, managing the Deferred Payments (Loan) Scheme and completing financial assessments and reviews for service users, in line with the Care Act 2014, and the Care and Support (Charging and Assessment of Resources) Regulations 2014.

The main responsibilities of the post include: 

  • The recruitment, training, and performance management of a team of Contracts Officers.
  • Supporting our service users and their families throughout the financial assessment process of entering Residential Care.
  • Ensuring our Residential providers are supported with all financial aspects of the Council’s payment process.
  • Managing the provision of a Deferred Payments (Loan) Scheme.
  • Analysing complex problems and information and arriving at solutions
  • Prioritising work allocation to the Contracts Officers.
  • Experience of working effectively to tight deadlines with accuracy using complex numerical information, and able to demonstrate understanding of working in a financial and commercial environment.

The successful candidate will be educated to educated to NVQ Level 4 or be able to demonstrable through the recruitment process they have experience to operate at an equivalent level in an admin/finance related environment to be able to advise and make decisions on complex matters, which is a main feature of the role.
