We are exclusively recruiting for a Senior Counsel role with a prominent professional services firm located in Guernsey. Renowned for delivering tailor-made legal, corporate, and fiduciary services to an international clientele, the firm has a proven track record of excellence.
Role Overview:
The Senior Counsel will integrate into the Private Capital & Trusts department, specifically contributing to the expansion of the Guernsey PC&T practice with the aim of establishing it as the leading practice in the region. Working alongside top practitioners, the successful candidate will play a key role in growing the PC&T business, aligning with the overall expansion strategy across all practice groups in the Channel Islands.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification:
- Collaborate with senior team members while providing guidance to junior fee-earners.
- Actively contribute to the development and growth of client relationships, positioning oneself as a valuable resource to clients. This involves taking ownership of core client relationships and participating in various business development initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of the practice’s knowledge base, actively participating in conferences, seminars, client presentations, and internal training.
- Deliver technically sound advice and responsive service to clients, providing support to colleagues on client matters.
- Maintain a consistent record of revenue generation and profitability, adhering to recommended billing rates, managing costs effectively, and ensuring personal utilization meets expectations.
- Adhere to the firm’s values and professional ethics, proactively seeking conflict resolution.
Education, Skills & Experience:
- Qualified lawyer with over 8 years of private wealth PQE.
- Outstanding academic credentials.
- Ambitious, commercially driven, open to new opportunities, and self-motivated.
- Preferred experience in an established private client practice or family office, though not essential.
- Preferred experience in the Guernsey private client sector and/or familiarity with offshore financial service providers, though not essential.
