Senior Data Analyst - Provost Office

ROLE PURPOSE:

If you are looking for a role in which you play a key role in pulling data from systems and working with teams to analyse and interpret that data to support the development and delivery of solutions that improve the life chances of our students, then we want to hear from you!

This is a new, exciting and high-profile role within the Provost office, with the opportunity to have a huge impact on delivering our ambitious goals for our students. There will be many opportunities for self-development, and to develop operational and strategic expertise alongside the deployment of key data competencies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with the Provost and Faculty to centralise ownership of reports within the Provost Office
  • Lead on managing new data projects from end to end, gathering requirements and delivering new reports
  • Support faculties in working with data teams to explain requirements for automated reports
  • Work with Faculty to ensure consistent methodology across all reports
  • Manage and develop the delivery of products including dashboards, analytical tools and insight into data
  • Deliver reports that are in the best format for the level they are required – e.g. management reports, operational reports
  • Challenge data teams and faculty on the art of the possible, and provide solutions/work arounds for tricky problems
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business, and work with the Provost to develop reports which help unpick and identify areas of concern, or identify opportunities to improve our student outcomes
  • Work with teams across the business to use the data/insight provided to develop operational and strategic plans that help address challenges and improve outcomes
  • Build strong relationships with key teams across the business, and work closely with the Data Team
  • The ability to dig into a problem and then apply the appropriate tool from your toolset to deliver meaningful insight
  • Smooth running of the Provost Office

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Experience within HE is helpful but not required, (ideally in a multi partnership organisation) that leads to a good understanding of operational/business reporting requirements.
  • Experience providing insight and analytics that can be used to inform strategic/operational planning and supporting the delivery of that planning.
  • Technical expertise and demonstrated experience in PBI, DAX and MS Excel
  • Technical expertise and demonstrated experience in using T-SQL
  • Experience in collecting, collating, presenting, and analysing complex data from multiple sources.
  • Profound understanding of relational database architecture and querying methodologies
  • Detailed knowledge of statistical techniques and data modelling
